The 7th Guest Hints
Crypt Puzzle (Maze)
of 17: There's really no way to give a straight solution to this puzzle, since the initial conditions are randomly generated.
of 17: I found that it was best to work on one coffin or group of coffins at a time at the start of the puzzle, until I reached some kind of recognizable pattern or order to the state of the lids. Trial and error is the only real strategy here, at least when you're starting out.
of 17: But if the above technique doesn't work for you, there is a definite solution that will get you to the end. I should warn you first that the solution I'm about to give is probably the *least* efficient. The only advantage it has is that it's guaranteed to work. I recommend you try to get to the end and turn only to these hints when you're hopelessly stuck.
of 17: I've numbered the squares in this puzzle a bit differently from the systems used in other solutions. The top row is numbered 1-3, left to right, the middle row is 4-6, and the bottom row is 7-9.
of 17: Each step tells you how to get a single coffin to flip. So a closed coffin becomes open and vice-versa. The first number represents the coffin to change, and each number afterwards tells you whether or not to click on coffin #, listed in order from 1-9. 1 means that you should click on that crypt, and 0 means that you shouldn't.
of 17: Hint: there's a way to combine some of the steps below, but it may take a while to explain, so in the interest of saving space, I've left it out. If you're looking for a challenge, try to find it for yourself.
of 17: 1: 1 1 1 / 1 1 0 / 1 0 0
of 17: Click on crypts #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7. Here come the rest of the answers:
of 17: 2: 0 1 0 / 1 0 1 / 1 0 1
of 17: 3: 1 1 1 / 0 1 1 / 0 0 1
of 17: 4: 0 1 1 / 1 0 0 / 0 1 1
of 17: 5: 0 1 0 / 1 1 1 / 0 1 0
of 17: 6: 1 1 0 / 0 0 1 / 1 1 0
of 17: 7: 1 0 0 / 1 1 0 / 1 1 1
of 17: 8: 1 0 1 / 1 0 1 / 0 1 0
of 17: 9: 0 0 1 / 0 1 1 / 1 1 1
of 17: Repeat as needed until you reach the end.
