Tales of Monkey Island Hints

How do I get the Tongue of the Manatee?

  • 1 of 9: De Cava said he gave the Tongue to one of his crew, someone other than Santino, and he can't remember which one. Let's talk to them all and see who it was.
  • 2 of 9: Not surprisingly, they're not too friendly, and after your deception re: DUBMI, they're not going to believe any attempt at friendliness on your part. It's time for a little intimidation, and each of the four guys responds to a different technique.
  • 3 of 9: When Moose spills his guts, you know that the Tongue is the funnel thing he was drinking out of. It's still in the manatee, so we need to take a little trip.
  • 4 of 9: To get back into the manatee, drop off the ship's plank to go down to the ocean floor. The manatee you want is the big fella at the left of the scene. Use the seahorse head on him to make him swallow you again. (The seahorse head isn't harmed, so you can do this as many times as you need to.)
  • 5 of 9: When you arrive, you can see the Tongue floating in the pool of bile, just out of retch -- er, reach. How did we raise the level of the bile before?
  • 6 of 9: Before, we asked Noogie to do a fast rhythm on the bongos, but he's not here, and Guybrush can't both beat the bongos and run down to the bile at the same time. We need something else to keep up that beat.
  • 7 of 9: Did you pick up the flopping fish on the deck of the ship? It was at the right on a pile of boxes; you can see it when you're looking at De Cava's old ship in the distance.
  • 8 of 9: Put the fish on the bongos and use the Weird Bump to get down to the pool of bile. You can now just take the Tongue.
  • 9 of 9: To get back out of the manatee, go down to the pool of bile and use the manatee lax on the bile. This too you can repeat as many times as you need to.
