What should I say to the manatees?

  • 1 of 8: For general tactics, talk to the only other female you have access to: Morgan.
  • 2 of 8: Ouch. Well, never mind that now. Her advice was essentially to get a male manatee to stand up to the lady manatee long enough to actually penetrate her bitterness.
  • 3 of 8: Drop back down to the sea bottom and use the Tongue to talk to the male manatee at the left. As Guybrush says, we need to start with courtesy.
  • 4 of 8: Open the Courtesy category of phrases and pick a good one for starting a conversation, such as --
  • 5 of 8: "Hello, I am very pleased to meet you" or "May I help you?" This leads you directly into a Cyrano-type set-up, with you talking for the shy male.
  • 6 of 8: Your general strategy in this conversation is to find responses to the female's attacks that are at least marginally related to what she said, while at the same time being faintly amusing and making it look like you're not intimidated or offended. If you get it right, she'll move slightly closer; if not, she'll move back into the cave.
  • 7 of 8: There may be different responses that will work here, but here's what worked for me:
  • 8 of 8: Once they're off happily frolicking, go into the cave to get La Esponja ... well, not so Grande after all, but it does the trick.
