Tales of Monkey Island Hints

How do I get money for the boat?

  • 1 of 7: As the Ferryman says, you need two gold coins. I don't see what he needs it for; judging by the tip jar on the turnstile, he's loaded.
  • 2 of 7: Well, maybe he can be induced to share, involuntarily if need be. How can you distract him long enough to snag a bill from the jar?
  • 3 of 7: He's not terribly talkative. What can you gather from looking at his boat that might prove a distraction?
  • 4 of 7: The boat is immaculately clean, and the Ferryman himself says, "Cleanliness is next to godliness." And just look, you've got a couple handfuls of grave dirt in your spectral pockets.
  • 5 of 7: Use some dirt on the boat. While the Ferryman is cleaning it off, grab a bill from the tip jar. You now have money --
  • 6 of 7: -- but he says he wants exact change. We need to find some way to break this bill.
  • 7 of 7: Use the bill on the grog machine, then push the Change button to get some coins.
