Tales of Monkey Island Hints
How do I get inside the Giant Doorway?
of 10: De Singe used an odd sort of lever, but we don't have anything like that. Is there something else here we can interact with?
of 10: In the middle of the stone face, there's a beautiful crystal nose; try that. Twice.
of 10: The second time, Guybrush says it's cutting his hands and wonders what it's made of. Remember what Crimpdigit said about the crystal reefs surrounding the island?
of 10: He said they cut ships to shreds, and that's what he used to make his unbreakable bottles. This must be made of the same stuff. How did you break the unbreakable bottle?
of 10: Use the bottle breaker on the crystal nose. This pops the crystal and makes the stone face drop off, but the ensuing hole isn't big enough for Guybrush to get through. Dead end.
of 10: Well, not quite. De Singe used a special sort of lever thing in the nearby clamshell to open the door, and there' s nothing like that around. What we need to do is find a way to get him to open the door again --
of 10: -- which he would totally do if he thought Guybrush was inside the door already.
of 10: Did you pick up the Pyrite Parrot of Petaluma from the Voodoo Lady's shack?
of 10: Push the Parrot through the hole left by the face. Now all you have to do is get De Singe out here. Pick up the stone face, then head back to town.
of 10: De Singe is standing on the balcony over his front door, which is good because there's NO way I'm going back in there. The conversational ploy you want starts, "I have PROOF ... " This is only available if you picked up the stone face after you broke the crystal nose.
