Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure Hints
How does the in-game hint system work?
There are two kinds of hints -- hints that move the story along (available only in the Casual mode) and hints about puzzles.
To get help about what you should do next, how to get something you need, or how to move the story along, bring up the Smart Alex and click on the icon at the bottom that's three horizontal lines with question marks. This will bring up a menu with a list of questions the system has answers for. Click on the one you want to see what it has to tell you.
To get help with a specific puzzle, when you're zoomed in on the puzzle, right-click to bring up a modified Smart Alex menu. Click on the question mark at the top to get Tex's summary of what you're trying to do here. (It's often not that helpful, unfortunately.) Click on the X to close the Smart Alex menu and return to the puzzle; click on the open door to exit the puzzle altogether. Casual players can also skip the puzzle by waiting one minute, then clicking on the icon at right of an arrow hitting a wall.
The Casual helps will cost you points. However, if you save first, then access the hints, then reload your saved game, you'll have the hint without the point loss. Or you can just read *these* hints, of course ...
