Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure Hints

What's the difference between the Casual and Gamer modes?

  • In the Casual mode, players can access hints to advance the story, and they can also skip puzzles, both at a cost in points. Casual players also get a flashlight that makes anything you can pick up issue little sparks, which is extremely helpful in dark or cluttered situations.

Gamers don't have access to any of those helps, which means you have to solve the puzzles yourself if you want the game to continue. Their flashlight doesn't do anything but illuminate, just like in the real world. Unlike the earlier Tex Murphy games, you can't change from one mode to the other in the middle of the game, so be sure you know what you're doing before you pick Gamer.

My personal strategy in situations like this is to play the first time through in Casual so I can concentrate on the story and solving problems, then go the second time through in Gamer. Up to you, of course.
