How should we defend our base?

  • 1 of 6: Defending your base is quite important since it prevents enemies from even getting to your flag room.
  • 2 of 6: Have several snipers set up in all sorts of places.  They should be moving constantly taking shots of opportunity.  You really want the snipers to be shooting at all enemies and not just enemy snipers.  If enemy snipers begin doing damage to your offense, then move back to sniper-sniper confrontations.
  • 3 of 6: A good way to do this is to have snipers changing positions often.  Some should remain in the overlook of the base, some should be on the roof and some should be setting up throughout the main grounds of the level.  They should take a few shots and then move to a different position.  That way, enemy snipers can't expect them to be in the same place twice.
  • 4 of 6: Some of the engineers should have sentry guns built just inside the main door to prevent enemy entry.
  • 5 of 6: Even better, have an engineer build a sentry on the rooftop of the enemy base to prevent the enemy from even leaving his base.  This requires a certain amount of domination on your team's part, but it will keep your enemies at bay.
  • 6 of 6: Your heavier classes should be trying to get inside the enemy base and should generally be on offense.  Exceptions can be made for HWGuys and demomen who may want to stay behind and protect the flag.
