Team Fortress Classic Hints
What team should I join?
1 of 5: Usually, you should let the auto-team function run and choose a team for you, as this will help keep sides even. Even if the auto-team menu option is not present, you can usually hit the "5" button anyway and get randomly placed.
2 of 5: You can always change teams later on if you want to. The default button is "N".
3 of 5: If one team is losing badly then it might be a good idea to join that team and help even the score regardless of the number of players on either side. Once the score has been evened out, you should re-evaluate whether or not teams are fair player-wise.
4 of 5: If you know that one team has 4 snipers already and you want to be a sniper, for example, choose the other team so that you can be a sniper and yet keep teams relatively balanced.
5 of 5: There is only one level in which choosing a team specifically affects gameplay. That level is Hunted. You have the choice of being either a Civilian, a Bodyguard, or an Assassin.
