Curse of Atlantis: Thorgal's Quest Hints
How can I win this game?
of 12: It's an alien version of the human game Mastermind.
of 12: Try clicking on five of the fifteen different tile designs on the left half of the screen.
of 12: Notice that they appear in the upper right panel in the order that you select them.
of 12: When you have five tiles selected, press the green checkmark button to see what happens.
of 12: Unless you were very unlucky, at least one of the white circles under the five tiles will turn green.
of 12: If a circle is flashing green, that means that the design you put in that slot is used in the pattern you're supposed to guess, but not in that exact slot.
of 12: If a circle is a solid, steady green, that means you got a correct tile in the right slot.
of 12: The goal is to guess the right five-tile pattern within five guesses (notice the five little arrows that surround the green checkmark button). If you guess wrong five times, you'll have to start over, and the computer will choose a new pattern.
of 12: NOTE: Before you press the green checkmark button, you can right-click to remove tiles from the board if you want to change them.
of 12: One strategy is to try all fifteen tile pieces, five at a time, and copy down all five tile patterns that give you any kind of green light. Of course, that uses up three of your five guesses, so you'll need a bit of luck to get the right order in only two more guesses. However, this is the strategy I used, and it usually works.
of 12: Also, when you get a tile in a position that flashes green, note down not only the tile's design, but also what position you now know it does *not* go in. That'll help in figuring out where things go during the final two guesses.
of 12: BUG NOTE: One time, I won the game with all five solid green lights on the fifth guess, but the door was still locked and I had to play the game-within-a-game again. Hopefully, this doesn't happen very often.
