Titanic: Adventure Out of Time Hints
Some General Notes
Due to the extreme non-linearity of this game and the multiple different endings in it, the occurrence of certain events often depends on the path you're following throughout the game. As a result, one or more of the topics in this file will not apply to your specific game situation. I will, however, try to give hints on every problem you could possibly face while playing Titanic. It's up to you to determine which of them are relevant to you. If you have problems with one particular puzzle, you might have a look in the puzzle solutions section. The answer will probably be there.
You can make your travels through the different ship decks a lot easier by using the map you'll receive from the steward upon arrival on the ship. The darker colored areas are hot spots you can jump to. Be aware though, that these hot spots are not always available. For instance, you cannot jump from the boiler rooms on G deck.
You should, however, also make sure that you are familiar with navigation through the ship by just using the corridors and staircases before the endgame starts. Due to the 55-minute time limit, you'll have to stroll through the ship fluently if you're aiming for the optimal ending, and the elevators and the map hot spots will not be available anymore.
There are eight different endings to this game, but I won't tell you how to reach each of them. All depends on what happens with the four key items that you're supposed to retrieve before the ship sinks. If you recover them all before the ship sinks and you get off the ship alive, you made it to the optimal ending. Failing to retrieve one or more of them or dying with the ship will result in one of the other endings.
Finally, there are lots of actions in this game that really aren't important or necessary to 'win' the game. But it's really worth exploring every nook and cranny of the Titanic, because those subplots add to the general game atmosphere. Although they're not necessary to reach the optimal ending, they certainly will make the winning path a little more enjoyable.
