The Omega Stone Hints
What is the solution to this puzzle?
of 23: You should notice that the skulls are interactive, and respond to your clicks.
of 23: Each skull can be turned 1/3 of a rotation each time you click on it.
of 23: It would seem that the goal of this puzzle is to align all 14 skulls correctly -- i.e., figure out which skull faces which direction.
of 23: There is not one clue, but two clues, to this puzzle.
of 23: You will need to combine the information from two separate sources to arrive at the solution for this puzzle.
of 23: The first clue is in a document that you can find elsewhere in the underground passageways.Where is the first clue?
of 23: The second clue is a non-portable one that you will need to examine while you are in its location. (You can't take it with you.)
of 23: Most of the columns on the scroll show skulls in one of three possible positions -- corresponding to one of the three possible positions for each of the skulls itself. (IMPORTANT: The scroll does not fit entirely on your computer screen. You will need to drag it right and left, up and down, to see all the way to the edges.)
of 23: But also note how the first column of glyphs on the scroll (the "first clue") are NOT skulls.
of 23: Look more closely at the glyphs in the first column, and think again if you've seen any of them elsewhere in the underground passageways.
of 23: Similar glyphs appear in the stone drawing (the "second clue") in two rows of seven glyphs.
of 23: Take a careful look at the stone drawing of the 14 glyphs, and compare those glyphs to the scroll.
of 23: Notice that the same glyphs appear on the stone drawing and in the left column of the scroll. Those glyphs will help you figure out which row of the scroll to read.
of 23: But look more closely at the stone drawing and note that each glyph consists of more than just what you see in column 1 of the scroll.
of 23: Have you become familiar yet with the Mayan numbering system?
of 23: You should now be able to see that each of the 14 glyphs consists of a Mayan number embedded into one of the pictographs in the first column of the scroll.
of 23: Those numbers tell you how far across in each row to read.
of 23: If you can find each of the 14 pictographs in the first column of the scroll, and correctly interpret the Mayan number attached to each, you will have your answer to the skull puzzle.
of 23: For each of the 14 glyphs, find the matching glyph in the left column of the scroll. Then count over 'n' columns (to the right), where 'n' is the Mayan number attached to that pictograph.
of 23: The result will be a skull picture -- facing one of three different directions.
of 23: Once found, the direction of the 14 "target" skulls on the scroll will give you the answer to the skull puzzle.
of 23: Make a note of the direction of each of the 14 "target" skulls -- front, right, or left. Now return to the skull room, and set each of the 14 skulls to match the answers you got from the above calculation.
of 23: Once you have done that correctly, the puzzle will be solved, and you will be able to proceed where you could not before.
