Saving Games
You can die in "The Omega Stone" -- in many places, in many ways! And unlike some other games, there is no automatic replay that allows you to avoid the last step that killed you, or to back up just prior to the action that resulted in your death. As a result, you should save games whenever you are about to enter a new area or try something that could be either dangerous or have unknown results.
The Save/Load/Quit menu can be accessed with the "Esc" key. Make sure to use the "Save As" option, rather than "Save Game", to create new saved game files, in case you need to take a step back at any point. There is no limit of the number of saved games possible -- but after about 50 or so saves you may experience technical difficulties with the game. If this happens, simply move your older saved games to a new folder (you should still be able to bring them back into the correct folder and use them again later, if needed).
Saved games are stored in reverse alphabetical order. It can be difficult, at times, to recall which game save is the most recent. It can be helpful to open an Explorer window and view it by using Alt-Tab to temporarily exit "The Omega Stone". Once outside the program, go to the folder with the saved games and view the file names, ordered by the most recent file. Make note of the title for the most recent saved game file; Alt-Tab back to the game; and search for the appropriate file.
If you'd rather not do this, you can also put numbers in front of your saved games yourself, as you save each one. For example, name the first game "01 My First Game", then "02 My Second Game", and so on. Make sure to put a 0 (zero) before games #1-9, so that 09 comes before 10. If you keep all of your saves named in the same format, the most recent save will be the first one displayed when games are listed in reverse alphabetical order.
