Tomb Raider 2 Hints

I've fallen through a large trap door, and I can't get out of this room!

  • 1 of 6: First of all, it might help to know that you have some control over how that trap door is triggered.  It will open if you're standing on it and you'll go falling -- possibly to your death -- into the room below.  But you don't actually have to be standing on it to open the door.
  • 2 of 6: If you take a running jump over the trap door, you should be able to make the door open while you're still in the air, and you can then control your descent into the room below.  You can also take the opportunity to kill the guards in that from above, which should make your life easier.
  • 3 of 6: There is an opening high up on one of the walls that will take you to out of this room.  If you managed to control your fall into the room carefully and landed on the highest and flattest platform below the opening, you should just be able to jump without too much trouble from platform to platform to reach the exit.
  • 4 of 6: If, on the other hand, you're already at the bottom of the room, you'll need to do some careful and fast jumping to get to that exit.  The problem with the platforms in this room is that many of them are sloped, so you can't stand around very long before you start to slide.  You'll probably need to take some quick jumps to get from platform to platform, or else you'll hit the ground before you get to the next platform.
  • 5 of 6: There may be multiple paths that will take you to the exit, but the one that I took started while I was in the corner facing away from the exit.  I was standing in the middle of a bit of floor that sloped down to my right, while facing a platform that sloped down toward me, and I started by jumping up and grabbing onto that platform.  (You need to aim for the middle of the platform in order to reach the exit.  If you go for the right side, the jump will be too high, and if you go for the left, you'll miss your next jump.)
  • 6 of 6: Then, I did a back flip followed by a flip to my right to reach a platform that was across from the opening.  From there, you should just be able to jump into the exit.
