Why can't I swim in the water that's underground?
1 of 7: The current is too strong for you to be able to swim very far -- it will push you back away from the statue.
2 of 7: You won't be able to take care of that until you've left this level and returned.
3 of 7: You should have found another Canopic Jar (cleverly named Canopic Jar 2) when you were at the Sacred Lake.
4 of 7: Use it to solve your swimming problem.
5 of 7: Put it in the niche that's in a position mirroring where you used the first jar -- on the west side of the room where you enter the underground section (to your right as you're facing the water). Some green liquid should now pour down some pipes and into the water.
6 of 7: Maybe you should see what the liquid did to the water.
