Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation Hints
I'm in a room with a giant game board. What's next?
of 13: The board that you're looking at is for a game called senet. Your goal here is to find the rules for senet -- and you'll then be able to play the game.
of 13: There's a ladder on the east wall of this room (to your right as you're just entering and facing the board). Take it, and go into the next room, where you'll find several fire-spitting holes on the walls.
of 13: Take a close look at the fire traps, and you may find that not everything is quite as it appears.
of 13: The flames will sometimes turn off briefly, and it will be safe to walk up to the holes for a little while.
of 13: Many of the holes contain switches. Some of these switches control other flames, and some open doors or otherwise let you progress. Other holes contain items like medipacks or ammunition. There's no real way to know what a hole contains until you try using it. (Or you can keep reading for an explicit path.)
of 13: As a general rule, the flames will shoot out about two steps forward. The flames will come back quickly after they turn off, so get as close as you can to them without getting burned, and then take two hops back immediately after you've reached into a hole. There are pools of water around this area, which you can use to put out the fire if you start to burn -- but you'll probably need to use a medipack on the way. You may just find it easier to save often and restore as needed.
of 13: The only other hint that I can give you is that you keep checking the various flames every time you reach a new switch. See what's changed, and look for more switches to pull, until you find The Rules of Senet. If you need to know exactly what to do, read ahead.
of 13: In the first room you enter from the senet board, you'll see a row of three flames on the north wall. Flip the switch to the right to turn off the center flame, and then flip the center switch to open a door on the wall to the right of the flames. The flame to the left hides a medipack but nothing critical.
of 13: Go through the door, where you'll find another six holes, in two rows of three holes each.
of 13: If you did everything you needed to in the room with the six holes, there should now be a cage that you can climb in the main room.
of 13: Climb that cage and do a running jump to reach the raised platform in the center of the room.
of 13: There's one last flame switch on this platform, roughly in the middle. Use that switch to turn off the flames at the bottom of the ramp below.
of 13: You can now go down the ramp and pass the now deactivated flame spouts to pick up the Rules of Senet. Use these to play a game of senet against the computer.
