Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation Hints

Combat Tips

  • Tomb Raider 4 isn't as combat-intensive as some of the other games in this series, and even then, there are tricks to fighting some of the enemies you'll encounter.  When there are specific tricks, I'll give them to you in the appropriate hints, but here are some general tips for the rest of the enemies:

    1) Look for places where you can fire at targets without giving them a chance to attack you.  For targets that can't shoot, standing on an elevated platform or ledge should be sufficient.  Enemies will also sometimes stick to a certain territory, and you can fight them more easily by stepping out of that territory.  Hiding around corners also helps, especially if you can find a corner outside of your opponent's terrority.

    2) If you can't find some sort of cover, keep moving.  I typically flip to one side or the other while firing, to reduce the odds that anyone will hit me.

    3) Use ammunition like wideshot shotgun shells, explosive crossbow arrows, or grenades when faced with multiple targets clustered together.  Don't worry too much about conserving these more powerful weapons, as long as you save a few shots of each for the few larger enemies you'll encounter throughout the game.

    4) Find out what triggers the appearance of animals or guards.  Sometimes, hanging from a ledge without even dropping into the room below or something similar will cause guards to appear.  If you hang from the ledge and then climb immediately back up, you can attack from above and improve the odds.
