How do I get off the platform in the middle of a room with two ropes?
1 of 7: The platform is way too high for you to be able to jump off it safely.
2 of 7: So the ropes must be the key here.
3 of 7: You will need to take a running jump from the platform to the closer of the two ropes. Be careful to aim your jump correctly, and probably save your game before even trying the jump, since the fall is deadly.
4 of 7: Then, swing on the first rope and head for the second rope. It might be a good idea to let the first rope stop after you've jumped on it, so you can line up your second jump more easily. Also, remember that you can swing farthest if you slide to the bottom of the rope before starting your swing.
5 of 7: Aiming can be trickier than it seems, since Lara's view (even with the "first-person" view from using the LOOK key) does not exactly line up with where she will swing. In fact, my own experience was that I had to aim a little left of the second rope, or at least, that's how it looked from the first-person view when the rope was still.
6 of 7: The best thing to do is to start your swing and judge whether you're properly aimed at the end of your swing before jumping. If not, let the rope come to a stop and try lining yourself up again. Repeat as necessary until you can get to the second rope.
7 of 7: From there, you can either jump to the left to a crawlspace on the south wall (giving you a secret) or to a platform to your right on the west wall (not giving you a secret, but easier to hit). Either way, keep going down after you land, until you reach the ground level of this room.
