How do I get out of the level the first time?
1 of 13: You need to create your own exit.
2 of 13: Explore all of the areas on the far sides of the various pits of this level, and you may get an idea of what to do.
3 of 13: When you get to the Sphinx past the first pit to the south, Lara will look at a stone plaque in between the Sphinx's two front legs. Head toward it and watch the cut-scene where Lara reads the inscription there.
4 of 13: The Sphinx doesn't like to be buried.
5 of 13: Maybe you could do a little digging.
6 of 13: There are two pieces on this level that you can use to make a shovel.
7 of 13: One is in the building past the pits to the north.
8 of 13: Look for the Metal Blade in the room on other side of those double doors.
9 of 13: You need to shoot out the wooden boxes in that room to find it.
10 of 13: There is also a handle on the north side of the pit just past the Sphinx.
11 of 13: Shoot out another crate in that part of the level to find the Wooden Handle.
12 of 13: Combine the two items to make a shovel. Now, all you need to do is find the place to dig.
13 of 13: There's a slightly lowered and darkened area of ground just in front of the plaque that Lara read. Dig there to make the exit to the "Underneath the Sphinx" level.
