How can I get across the swamp?
1 of 14: Why don't you strike out across it and see what happens?
2 of 14: Keep trying to move toward the large tree you see at the east end of the swamp.
3 of 14: Before long, you'll get totally stuck.
4 of 14: Some mysterious person will appear in the tree and toss you a hangman's rope.
5 of 14: You'll need to pick up the rope and figure out how to use it to get across to the tree.
6 of 14: If it had a grapnel on one end, you could throw it so that it hooked onto a branch or root or something.
7 of 14: The closest thing you have to a grapnel is the pirate hook you got from the gallows skeleton.
8 of 14: However, the game won't let you combine that with the hangman's rope.
9 of 14: So un-hangman it. You don't need the noose.
10 of 14: Click the hangman's rope on the wrench symbol to "disassemble" it into a long rope.
11 of 14: Then use the hook on it to get another knot-tying puzzle.
12 of 14: Select the bottom, top, and top choices on the three stages where you have choices.
13 of 14: After it's done, choose the grapnel from inventory, then click on the base of the tree.
14 of 14: That'll get you pulled safely over to the other side of the swamp.
