Exactly which squares do I hit and in what order?
1 of 8: First, go to inventory and pick up the mallet, then exit inventory. That way, you'll be ready to whack the correct squares as you identify them.
2 of 8: The enigma said to hit the hook, pegleg, dagger, and pistol, so hit the squares with those items' shadows on them in that order.
3 of 8: Study the figurines and shadows carefully to figure out where each item's shadow is being cast.
4 of 8: Mentally number the rows from 1 (top row) to 4 (bottom row) and the columns from 1 (left column) to 6 (right column).
5 of 8: Using that numbering system, the hook's shadow is on the square in row 2, column 3. Whack that square first.
6 of 8: Then whack the square in row 4, column 6 (the bottom right square), since that's where the pegleg shadow is.
7 of 8: The third item is the dagger, which is shadowed on the square at row 1, column 1 (the top left square).
8 of 8: Row 2, column 4 is the location of the pistol shadow, so whack that square last.
