The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal Hints

The Shrine of the Dead

  • 1 of 6: You can get this quest at pretty much any time by talking to Gavas Dren, who's in the Office of the Lord Archcanon on the west side of the temple building.  Ask him about "service to our lady" and then "shrine has been corrupted," and he'll ask you to escort Urvel Dulni (who's standing nearby) to the Shrine of the Dead in the Temple Sewers.
  • 2 of 6: You can reach the sewers via the basement that's just off the Hall of Ministry on the north side of the temple.
  • 3 of 6: You'll find some reasonably powerful liches and other monsters in the Temple Sewers, so you may want to clear a path for Urvel first, and then go get him.  Or, you can bring him with you into the sewers but then tell him to periodically stay put by talking to him.  Then, clear just a short path and have him follow you a bit further, and repeat until you've reach the shrine.  Whatever you do, though, you probably don't want Urvel fighting by your side, since he probably won't last the whole way unless you heal him a lot with Restore Health on target spells or their equivalents.
  • 4 of 6: Head to the east side of the first section of Temple Sewers to reach the Temple Sewers East.  It's a fairly straight shot from there (just continue heading east) to the Temple Gardens and then on to the Temple Shrine (look for a door surrounded by candles).
  • 5 of 6: Watch out for the lich-like Profane Acolytes in the Temple Shrine, as well as the five fireball-tossing columns in one room (a very good reason not to have Urvel fighting by your side).  Once the Profane Ones are all dead, you can walk Urvel up to the shrine, where he will do his job cleansing the altar.  (Your journal will tell you when the coast is clear -- if it doesn't, you may need to look for more acolytes before escorting Urvel to the altar.)
  • 6 of 6: If you'd like, you can talk to Urvel when he's done and take him all the way back to the temple, or you can probably get away with a quick Almsivi Intervention back out and report to Gavas Drin.  He'll give you a Blessed Spear as a reward -- it will also give you a nice constant shield effect and a constant bonus to your spear skill.
