The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal Hints

Bouncer

  • 1 of 13: Talk to Hession, the Altmer owner of the Winged Guar, for this quest.
  • 2 of 13: She tells you that she wants you to talk to everyone in the bar to see if they're drunk, and throw them out if they are.
  • 3 of 13: There's really only one person in the tavern who counts as a drunk for the purpose of this quest.
  • 4 of 13: That's the wood elf Denegor on the upper floor.
  • 5 of 13: If your disposition is high enough (around 80), simply talk to Denegor and ask him to calm down.
  • 6 of 13: If your disposition isn't high enough, you can provoke him into attacking you -- just do what Hession asks and be careful not to hurt him too badly.
  • 7 of 13: Asking Denegor to leave (not merely to calm down) when his disposition is low will provoke him.  Then use hand-to-hand combat to knock him out, and your job will be done.
  • 8 of 13: If your hand-to-hand skills are low here -- as mine were when I tackled this one -- you may find that draining or absorbing his fatigue to soften him up can make things a little easier for you.
  • 9 of 13: If you report back to Hession now, she'll give you a small 500 gold reward, but she'll also say that she still has a "bad feeling."  That may be your cue that you should have looked for something else to take care of.
  • 10 of 13: Not necessarily another drunk, but someone else up to another kind of no good.
  • 11 of 13: Galms in the basement is running a shells game.
  • 12 of 13: And the bartender Ra'Tesh will tell you that he's not running a fair game.  (Imagine that!)
  • 13 of 13: Get Galms' disposition up to around 50, and you can get him to agree to play fair if you talk to him about "game of shells".  Not only will your reward from Hession double now (once you report back), but you can also play the game and have a chance to win, if you're a gambling sort of person.  (Or if you're hard up enough for cash to do the save-before-betting-and-restore-if-you-lose trick.)
