The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal Hints
Is there any way I can get through the door without outrunning the trap?
1 of 6: Funny you should ask, because yes, there may be.
2 of 6: Levitation magic doesn't work here in Clockwork City. But that doesn't mean you can't (sort of) fly if you want.
3 of 6: Depending on how good your skills and spells are, you can *jump* up to that door.
4 of 6: I found that a jump spell at level 40 or so let me jump from the ground level straight to the door, without any additional boosts to my stats or skills. All you need to do, then, is time your jump so you don't go jumping right into the gear, and then you can run right through the door before the trap ever gets near you.
5 of 6: If you don't have a good enough Jump spell or scroll, you may be able to use a trapped soul to make a quick enchanted item with the Jump effect. If needed, you can also even summon a creature to trap its soul, so long as you have an empty soul gem. The Jump effect doesn't have to last long -- magnitude is more important than duration here.
6 of 6: If you can't boost your speed enough and you also can't get a good Jump going, you may have to cheat to return to Mournhold and get something to help you here.
