The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal Hints
The Barbarian and the Book
1 of 7: You'll get this quest by talking to Thrud, who's wandering around the middle of Godsreach.
2 of 7: He'll want you to help rescue his friend Dilborn from some thugs who are holding him in the Residential Sewers immediately below Godsreach. He'll even tag along to "help" you, although you may prefer to leave him behind, solve this quest, and then come back to get him. There's no way to tell him to stay behind, although you can always teleport to lose him temporarily.
3 of 7: Once in the sewers, look just to the east of the ladder down from Godsreach, fight your way past a few goblins if they're still in your way, and you'll find a few people in one alcove -- including Dilborn and his captor, Drathas Nerus.
4 of 7: If you talk to Drathas, he'll ask you to pay Dilborn's bounty of 3000 gold, and he warns you that he'll kill Dilborn if you try to rescue him.
5 of 7: If his disposition is around 80 or so, you can talk him into lowering the bounty down to 1000.
6 of 7: Or you could just try killing Drathas quickly enough that Dilborn would be safe. Using paralyzing weapons will make this task easier for you. It also seems that if you attack first, his guards will go after you, leaving Drathas as the only one trying to kill Dilborn. Dilborn's bracers will stay on if you choose to kill Drathas, but that doesn't seem to matter to him or Thrud. (If this doesn't work for you, then pay Drathas, exit and reenter the sewers to allow Thrud and Dilborn to escape, and *then* kill Drathas and company to get your money back.)
7 of 7: In any case, once Dilborn is free, you'll get a small reward of the "Trap" book from Thrud. That's it. Not a particularly exciting quest, is it?
