Uplink Hints
Getting back on your feet
1 of 13: The first step of getting back on your feet is making sure you _can_.
2 of 13: If they don't get your computer, they can't destroy you completely.
3 of 13: To make sure they don't, get security.
4 of 13: One Gateway Nuke should be enough. Fill the other slots with Motion Sensors.
5 of 13: If you _know_ you've been caught in something major, you should still have a few hours (or at least 10 minutes). This will be more than enough time to activate the Gateway Nuke.
6 of 13: If you're just hacking along and suddenly get a red line on your Motion Sensor (remember to keep a software application running!) and you don't have any Gateway or Hardware updates coming, Nuke! You won't get fully caught, then.
7 of 13: (Note that you won't get a chance for that when you get caught transferring money to your own account)
8 of 13: Log back on, pay the 1,000c and you're hacking again!
9 of 13: Now, the first and only problem is money. You may be Elite, but that will prevail you little if you don't have enough credits to buy yourself a good computer.
10 of 13: To purchase a TRINITY Gateway and all the hardware and software to high-level hacks you'll need about 410,000c. This includes full hardware capacity and software to bypass any and all the security systems. At this point you'll be a very happy man if you've robbed a bank or two -- or have made money with missions constantly even after you've bought everything.
11 of 13: As your Skill Rank and Neuromance Ratings remain, you'll be able to accept the most difficult missions and get money fast even if you don't have that kind of money.
12 of 13: You also might want to make a 'backup' of your programs. Choose a File Server (get a Steal 70Gq mission if you don't have any available). Copy your software here, and you can get them back when you Nuke. (Remember to write down the IP and your user/pass, as the game won't remember them.) The next hint will contain a spoiler for the first mission of the plot.
