Uplink Hints
Introversion Machine
of 14: The Introversion Machine might be described as being the most 'introversial' system there is.
of 14: Thus, the IP is as 'introversial' as can be.
of 14: Or 'Uplinkish'
of 14: The first (three-digit) number of an IP address labels the IP address _group_. For example, all IPs starting with 127 are _your_ computer. .0.0.1 means simply the first of any group starting with 127.
of 14: There are four IP groups in the game that belong to Introversion.
of 14: One is in the possession of the company "Introversion Software". Don't bother looking for it in the InterNIC or waiting for a job to wreck it, there won't be anything to find or any to get. You can buy shares or put stuff in their file server, but that's it.
of 14: The others belong to the Uplink Corporation.
of 14: The Bank and the Public Access server have their own IP groups. The other two are directly linked to the Uplink Agency.
of 14: The most 'Uplinkish' IP address can be said to describe itself again and again.
of 14: It has as many numbers as possible describing Uplink.
of 14: Or rather, the Uplink Agency.
of 14: The IP group of Uplink Agency is 128.
of 14: Thus, the IP is the IP address that has as much of this number as possible.
