Uplink Hints
From Beginner to Veteran (Skill Levels)
1 of 4: The two rankings in the game, Skill Level and Neuromancer rank, are both affected by the types of missions you do.
2 of 4: Your Skill Level is determined by the tasks you do. The most difficult missions also raise your rating the most, but at that point you'll also need more to get better ranks.
3 of 4: Your Skill Level can also go down. Abandoning a mission will always lower your Skill rating (though not necessarily your Level). If you wanted half the money in advance, your skill rating will decrease even more.
4 of 4: When your Skill Level goes up, you'll find that there are more difficult missions for you to choose.
