Tracing
of 9: You'll need to Passive Trace the hacker. This is done through logs.
of 9: The mission will begin with giving you the IP of the machine that was compromised. (You will also get a user access to the machine, but this won't help much as you cannot access the Logs with this user handle.)
of 9: You will also get the approximate time the hack was accomplished. This can vary drastically from the actual hack time, but the hack entry is usually a few hours before the estimate.
of 9: Access the logs. You'll see the IP of the machine he bounced through last. Write down the time of the access.
of 9: Plug the IP from whence the access came into your IP_Lookup and check the logs in THAT machine. You'll find that there's a bounce to the target machine at the same time it was accessed. Plug the IP he bounced through to get here into your IP lookup.
of 9: Repeat the previous step until you'll come across a strange phenomena -- there's a weird log at the same time the (unauthorised) access took place. Something smells fishy...
of 9: He's used a Log_Deleter v3.0 to clear his logs. The v3.0 replaces the target log with an authorised log. It cannot change the time of the attempt, though.
of 9: You have access to software that can undo whatever he's done to the logs.
of 9: Purchase a Log_Undeleter. Click this on the changed log and you'll find the IP of his personal computer. Plug this to your IP_Lookup and send your employers his name.
