Uru: The Path of the Shell Hints
I linked to Ahnonay, but there's nothing to do!
of 24: Take a look around this age of sand and water. Is there anything that draws your attention?
of 24: In the middle of the small lake in the middle of the island is a strange orb on a tower. Is there anything on it?
of 24: Upon examination of the front of the orb, there are small blue lights around some of the perimeter. Any idea what those lights could represent?
of 24: Move around a bit, watching the orb as you do so.
of 24: Explore the island and everything on the island. Is there anything you can do to change the lights on the orb?
of 24: The orb appears to be a sort of a radar, and the blue lights represent...
of 24: ...any living thing on the island. The location of a blue light on the circle represents the location of a living thing on the island.
of 24: Recall what Simpson's DRC report on Kadish said about Ahnonay (the report can be found in the Watcher's Sanctuary).
of 24: It said the Kadish claimed to have written Ahnonay and he's able to time travel by using the Age. Now, assuming Kadish is a fraud, which Simpson's journal suggests, there must be some other way Ahnonay faked "time travel."
of 24: Imagine Kadish bringing a group of people to Ahnonay to show them time travel.
of 24: From the Watcher's Sanctuary, they link to Ahnonay's Linking Chamber, from which they link to Ahnonay itself. The people arrive on the pleasant island and take in the view. Now Kadish has to make Ahnonay change without anyone seeing the process.
of 24: Kadish leads the people to the only place to go on Ahnonay -- the Linking Book on the opposite side of the island. They all link out, leaving no one behind. There is no life left on the island.
of 24: By using the book on Ahnonay, Kadish and his guests reappear in the Ahnonay Linking Chamber. When they return to Ahnonay, it has changed -- "time traveled" -- but it probably won't change for you if you return now. What is Kadish doing that you aren't?
of 24: The radar orb must have something to do with it. Imagine the orb's activity as Kadish leads his visitors through Ahnonay, then compare that to the orb's activity as you move through the Age.
of 24: In Kadish's version, when the last person links off of Ahnonay, there is nothing left on the radar. All the blue lights are off. In your version, however, there are still plenty of blue lights on spread throughout the island when you link away.
of 24: You have to find a way to get the lights to turn off before you link off Ahnonay, since turning off the lights seems to cause the change. First things first -- what is causing the lights to turn on?
of 24: The lights on the radar seem to respond to life forms on the island, so other life forms must be causing it. The only other life forms on the island are...
of 24: ...Quabs. Quabs are the small, crab-like critters that run away from you. You have to get the Quabs off the radar.
of 24: The Quabs on land clearly alert the radar, but what about the water?
of 24: Quabs will run away from you if you get too close.
of 24: You have to chase all the Quabs off the island. By getting close to a Quab, it will run away. Continue to chase it until it jumps into the water.
of 24: All the Quabs are gone when the only light on the radar orb corresponds to your location. Even then, move around to make sure there isn't a Quab hiding behind you somewhere.
of 24: With one light on (that's you), link out via the Linking Book, then back to Ahnonay through the Ahnonay Linking Chamber.
of 24: If you've gotten all of the Quabs, you should now be in a foggier version of Ahnonay. If not, check again to make sure all the Quabs are gone and chase them off the edge of the island, and then link out and back in through the Linking Chamber.
