Uru: Ages Beyond Myst Hints
How do I solve the puzzle with five buttons on a railing?
of 19: You will find this puzzle at/near the bottom of the staircase past the door you unlocked with the first puzzle.
of 19: You will notice that as you press the buttons, lights on the floor at the bottom of the staircase will turn on and off.
of 19: You want to make a specific shape with those lights.
of 19: You could try to figure the shape out yourself from trial and error -- most button combinations produce random scatterings of lights -- or try to find the shape drawn for you somewhere.
of 19: But it's probably easier just to find out which buttons to press.
of 19: The same place that you figured out the solution to the previous puzzle.
of 19: You need to walk a specific path on the floor. (It may help to press F1 to switch to the third-person view if you're not there already.)
of 19: But think about some of the things that Yeesha has said to you.
of 19: She seems to think that light is dangerous and darkness is safe.
of 19: You need to walk along the dark part of the path, not the lit part.
of 19: As you are at the bottom of the the staircase, walk counterclockwise a bit around the edge of the floor -- not on any of the lit parts or any of the other tiles in the center.
of 19: Go about 90 degrees around the edge, and you should reach a dark part of the main floor -- not just the circle around it. The camera angle in first-person view should change to give you a bit of a hint to turn after you get to this point.
of 19: Then stay on the dark part of the floor and continue walking into the center of the room.
of 19: The floor will then sink, revealing a door on part of the path that you just walked. Go through that door and on to the next puzzle.
