Why did I lose the fireflies?
1 of 9: They may seem to like you, but they're also quite picky. Many things will scare them away.
2 of 9: Like rain.
3 of 9: Or water in any other form.
4 of 9: Or running.
5 of 9: Or jumping too much.
6 of 9: So just stand in the middle of the fireflies until you think you're surrounded by them, and then walk where you want to go. Be careful to avoid water of any form, and make sure that you're not running. (Pressing CAPS LOCK toggles between running and walking, as does holding SHIFT.)
7 of 9: You can jump once, but only once, before the fireflies run away.
8 of 9: If it's about to rain while the fireflies are following you, you might be able to duck underneath an archway between the time you hear a storm starting and the time the rain actually starts. You can then wait the storm out and take the fireflies with you after it clears up. Or just give up on this batch and try getting another one.
9 of 9: The steam vents will also scare the fireflies off -- make sure you don't walk into these. (There's one right near where the linking book takes you into the desert.)
