A Vampyre Story Hints

Some notes on inventory and other interactions...

  • There's one small element of this game that you won't find in other adventures. Rather than games that let you grab anything and everything that isn't nailed down, and rather than games that let you look at things but don't give you any clue that they might be useful until you FIND their use, this game has found some middle ground. Say you want to take a heavy shovel with you. Well, pick it up, and instead of placing it into a fictitious inventory, Mona will say "I'll remember that it's here". This item will then appear in your inventory as a "ghost item", meaning that you can use it as normal. However, when the time comes to actually use that shovel, Mona will quickly shift into bat form and run back to get it. Sounds time-consuming, but it's actually a pretty good system.

Interactions in the game are the usual adventuring ones, examine, pick up/use, and talk to. There's also one other option you can use, and that's "Fly to." Mona's a vampire, and vampires have the uncanny ability to transform into a bat at will. Use this command when you want to slip through some bars in a door, fly up a chimney, or climb to a high tower balcony.
