Voyage Hints

How can I throw anything out into space?

  • 1 of 15: OK, so this is a bit of a stretch, based on the current knowledge of atmospheric pressure, and the vacuum of space.  But the theory (in the game, and -- apparently -- in the late 1800's) is that unequal pressures will take a few moments to equalize, so you could technically open a door into space, and as long as you were quick about it, not too much air would "leak out"!
  • 2 of 15: Given this theory, how could you gain access to the space outside of your capsule?
  • 3 of 15: Obviously, there is a hatch that Ardan and friends used to enter the capsule.
  • 4 of 15: Take a look around at the various portals inside the capsule.  Some are simply windows, but one is a hatch cover.
  • 5 of 15: All are screwed down tightly -- either with covers over them, or (in the case of the hatch) with a hinged door.
  • 6 of 15: You'll need to find a way to unscrew the covers.
  • 7 of 15: Use the wrench on any of the bolts on any cover, and all four bolts will be unscrewed.
  • 8 of 15: The two side windows will have their covers drop away; but they are only viewports, and do not open to the outside.
  • 9 of 15: The only place with an openable hatch cover is in the floor of the capsule.
  • 10 of 15: Remove the bolts from the hatch cover.
  • 11 of 15: Look around for an active "hot spot" on the hatch cover.
  • 12 of 15: Click on the right side of the hatch cover, to open it to space.
  • 13 of 15: The cover will only remain open for a short period of time, after which it will close automatically.
  • 14 of 15: To close it manually, click on the open hatch cover.
  • 15 of 15: With the hatch cover open, open the inventory and select the item you wish to throw out.  Then exit the inventory, and click on the open hatch cover.  (There is no visible indication that the item has been thrown out, other than that it will no longer be "in hand".)
