Voyage Hints

I can't catch any of the droplets. Any suggestions?

  • 1 of 6: Due to the zero-gravity, Ardan's ability to control himself has been reduced.  However, notice that Ardan's motion within the capsule is consistent; it continues in a circular motion.
  • 2 of 6: The droplets, too, have some consistency to their motion (although not as evenly as Ardan's own movements).  Use this to plan ahead, and try to anticipate how the can might intersect with one of the floating droplets.
  • 3 of 6: Note the yellow arrow at the top of the funnel.  This is where the droplet must "meet" the funnel, for it to be trapped in the can.
  • 4 of 6: Since no mouse clicking is required, you can actually just sit and watch for a while, as room spins and the droplets float freely.  Typically, if you have moved the focus so that the can is roughly in the midst of the group of droplets, pure chance will dictate that some droplets will automatically "meet" the funnel, and be trapped.  (It is actually possible to "solve" this puzzle by doing nothing more than getting the combined can and funnel in hand, and letting the motion of the room and the droplets take over from there -- but it can be a long wait.)
  • 5 of 6: Each droplet trapped will produce an audible sound.  Once all droplets have been caught, a brief monologue will show that Ardan has trapped the potassium nitrate "just in time".
  • 6 of 6: If the monologue has not appeared, there are still droplets free.  Some are quite tiny, so you may have to look carefully to fine them all.  The puzzle will continue until all droplets have been caught.
