Voyage Hints

I've tried that, but Ardan says that it's "not enough". What now?

  • 1 of 23: If you have followed the hints so far, you may have attempted to create a seedling plant to use to subdue another plant.  But when you tried to "use" it on the other plant (by selecting the dominant seedling plant from inventory, and clicking on the plant to be subdued), Ardan said that it was a "good idea", but "not enough".
  • 2 of 23: His next comment, however, provides further information.  He says that it is necessary to "scare both of them at the same time".  What does he mean by "both of them"?
  • 3 of 23: You are very likely at one of the five major "landing points" around the edge of the plateau.
  • 4 of 23: And at each landing point, there are two sets of plants -- one color to the left, and one color to the right.
  • 5 of 23: In each case, it is not one plant that is blocking your path, but two -- one of each color!
  • 6 of 23: If, for example, the two plants blocking your way are red and purple, then bringing a blue seedling plant (to subdue the purple plant) will not be sufficient.
  • 7 of 23: You will have to use a second seedling plant -- a yellow one, based on the hierarchy of plants -- to subdue the red plant.
  • 8 of 23: Using the above example (i.e., the two "blocking" plants are red and purple), you would need to have a yellow and a blue seedling plant, so that each of the two blockers could be subdued at the same time.
  • 9 of 23: However, even if you created the necessary two seedling plants (yellow and blue), there is no way for Ardan to select both of them from inventory at the same time.
  • 10 of 23: You'll need to use a little horticultural "common sense", and try to come up with a single plant that will serve both causes.
  • 11 of 23: How about a "hybrid" plant -- a plant created from the seedling of two separate plants?
  • 12 of 23: Since there is no time to do plant grafting, or other standard means of creating hybrid plants, maybe there is something in the inventory that can help out.
  • 13 of 23: For the above example, create a yellow seedling plant and a blue seedling plant.
  • 14 of 23: Now combine the two separate seedling plants in inventory.
  • 15 of 23: Hmmm...  it appears that they will combine.  But something is still lacking.
  • 16 of 23: When two plants are grafted together in a greenhouse, they are often "encouraged" to grow together by binding them together.
  • 17 of 23: What could you use to bind the two seedling plants together?
  • 18 of 23: How about some raffia?
  • 19 of 23: Once you have combined the two seedling plants and the raffia, you will have created a hybrid plant, having the qualities and characteristics of both of the "parent" plants.
  • 20 of 23: And one of those characteristics is that this hybrid can now "dominate", or "subdue" BOTH of the two plants that the original two seedlings could control.
  • 21 of 23: Take the hybrid plant (in the example, a combination of the yellow and blue plants) to the point where Ardan's path is blocked by the red and purple plants.
  • 22 of 23: Use the hybrid on either of the two plants blocking his path.
  • 23 of 23: BOTH plants will be subdued, and Ardan is free to continue on the newly-opened path.
