6. Protective shield

  • 1 of 11: Enter the space capsule (at any point -- regardless of where it is at the moment), and examine the various windows.
  • 2 of 11: Ardan will comment that the side and front windows should survive the trip, but the rear window (on the hatch) will be destroyed by the explosive launch.
  • 3 of 11: As with some of the other steps relating to Ardan's return to Earth, it is not required to resolve this issue in order for Ardan to take off on his return trip to Earth.
  • 4 of 11: However, if he does not address the problem, the explosive launch will destroy the hatch, killing Ardan -- bummer!
  • 5 of 11: The best thing to use to protect the rear hatch window is the same thing that protected it on the initial trip.
  • 6 of 11: Use the (good) hatch cover (which Ardan removed from the capsule earlier in the game) on the rear hatch.
  • 7 of 11: Ardan needs something else to go with the hatch cover.
  • 8 of 11: Use the hatch cover bolts on any of the four corners of the hatch cover, and all four bolts will be screwed in.
  • 9 of 11: However, they are only manually tightened at that point.
  • 10 of 11: If you try to close the hatch door at this point, Ardan will comment that the bolts need to be tightened.
  • 11 of 11: Use the wrench on any one of the four bolts, and all will be tightened, and ready for the return trip to Earth.
