Voyage Hints
Where do I get the white crystalline substance?
of 21: The substance is salt, and -- in a pinch (pun intended) -- it can be purchased from the Distributor.
of 21: But it doesn't need to be.
of 21: There is another source for salt, although it is well hidden, and requires an almost accidental discovery to find it.
of 21: Go to Level 3 ("Food") in the elevator, and exit to the left, toward the alien shepherd Scurvy, standing at the end of the hallway.
of 21: Look at the metal plate on the wall on your left.
of 21: What could this plate be for? It is obviously covering something.
of 21: Nothing you might try will force the plate open.
of 21: Look around for another active spot on the same wall.
of 21: Note the level "2" key slot to the left of the panel.
of 21: Use a level "2" key (or higher) in the slot; the panel will open.
of 21: Wow -- impressive! A bust of the Supreme Ruler. Maybe you could just take it...
of 21: ... oh, nice going! Now you broke it, and Scurvy is pretty upset!
of 21: You'd better do something about it quickly, to try and pacify him.
of 21: Pick up the smashed bust, and...
of 21: ... as always, you should use the inventory window to look at EVERYTHING you pick up, to get more information about it.
of 21: It seems that the broken pieces of the bust are producing a "rattling" sound -- as if there were something loose inside.
of 21: Smash the broken pieces even further...
of 21: ... to disclose what was inside. (Use the wrench, or iron bar, or other similar item to smash the remains.)
of 21: Take the salt the comes out of the smashed bust.
of 21: Oh, and when you're done, use some glue on the broken pieces, and put the repaired bust back in its niche. And DON'T TOUCH IT AGAIN.
of 21: (You did, didn't you??? Nice shot, Ace. Now go back and fix it... AGAIN!)
