Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness Hints
Elven Ranger
An Elven Ranger is really just an upgraded archer, but a Ranger is much better. Once you invest the money to upgrade to Rangers, in addition to 10 extra hit points (total of 50), you will have 3 upgrade options: sight=9; range=+1; and damage=+3. If you are playing with fog of war OFF, then it is not really worth investing the money to upgrade the sight. An upgraded range can help in a defensive line, because the Rangers can attack the enemies from further out. You can upgrade the damage each arrow does by 3 for 3000 gold, which is a fairly good deal. If you have a line of 6 Rangers, that is 18 MORE damage points than a non-upgraded Ranger, each time the Rangers shoot. But only spend this money to upgrade if you use archers as your main attack force.
