The Witcher Hints
What should I do about Berengar?
1 of 8: You will meet Berengar near the crypt in Lakeside.
2 of 8: Follow him into the crypt, and kill a bunch of undead with him, talking to him on the way.
3 of 8: Once you've gone through the crypt, besides learning about Raven's armor, you'll be "Invited" by Berengar to talk to him by his fireplace.
4 of 8: You can talk to him to get some more information, but this won't really continue until you talk to the Lady of the Lake.
5 of 8: She'll ask you to speak to Berengar about destiny. You can go tell Berengar about this, but he won't be interested.
6 of 8: After you kill finish the main quests, you will meet Berengar again -- he will tell you that he betrayed the Witchers, and you'll have to decide to kill him or let him go.
7 of 8: If you are aggressive, you'll fight him. He's a very easy opponent.
8 of 8: Note that this has an effect on the final battle in Chapter 5 -- if you kill him you'll get an amulet that makes Azar Javed much easier. If you let him live, then he will help you in the fight (he is basically useless). Note that there is a bug which will sometimes cause you to not encounter Berengar -- the game will proceed as if you'd let him live, but it's a little weird.
