Calm the wounded elf with the Axii Sign.
1 of 3: Face the elf and click to get the sign-casting done.
2 of 3: You'll then need to do a quick bar-filling QTE to get the process completed.
3 of 3: Ask the elf about everything, then decide whether or not you want Triss to come along on the "The Rose of Remembrance" quest. (Note that you should take her along for a much more interesting trip.)
