The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Hints
Defeat the chest's guardian.
1 of 5: You'll be trapped inside a large magic circle with a powerful elemental. Iorveth won't be able to get inside it to help you.
2 of 5: The elemental is similar to a stone golem except that it'll occasionally set off an elemental explosion at your location. Watch for yellow circles appearing on the floor beneath you, and quickly roll away when they do.
3 of 5: Keep the Quen sign going and hack on the elemental until it's defeated. (If you have the Combat Acumen talent, the battle can be greatly shortened.)
4 of 5: After the elemental is destroyed, go up to the chest and loot it to get Philippa's special dagger.
5 of 5: Go over to Iorveth to talk to him and get the "A Summit of Mages" quest.
