The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Hints

Mystic River

  • 1 of 7: To get this quest, get the key from the skeleton that's in the wrecked ship at the north end of the kayran's lair area. (Note that you can go there before doing the "The Kayran" quest, but watch out for all the drowners.)
  • 2 of 7: Go east through the ship's wreckage until you find the chest that the key opens.
  • 3 of 7: Loot it, then return to Flotsam and enter Louis Merse's house. (It's behind the merchant stalls that are south of the gallows.)
  • 4 of 7: Go upstairs and approach the desk with the box on it to learn that it's the one you're looking for. However, if you try to search it, you'll find that it's locked.
  • 5 of 7: Quicksave, then talk to Louis Merse about the postbox. If you fail with the Axii-sign dialogue option, quickrestore and try again.
  • 6 of 7: Once you succeed, you'll be able to take Louis Merse's report from the box.
  • 7 of 7: Read the Captain's Report item that you got from the chest by double-clicking on it in inventory, then face the box and click to insert the report into it. That's all you can do on this quest until Chapter 2.
