The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Hints

From a Bygone Era

  • 1 of 10: Talk to Bras of Ban Ard and tell him you want to know everything about "this manuscript." (Note that this is only possible if you got the manuscript from the cellar of the house on the cliff in Chapter 2.)
  • 2 of 10: When he demands payment in exchange for a translation, you can either hand over 300 orens or try to persuade him using the Axii-sign option.
  • 3 of 10: After he gives you a sentence of nonsense words, plus the method to turn them into a useful password, go looking for the Vran guardian.
  • 4 of 10: The flaming face will ask you for the password. If you get it wrong, you'll be flamed, and you'll have to talk to the face and try again.
  • 5 of 10: Once you enter the entire password sequence correctly, a portal will open up.
  • 6 of 10: Enter it to be taken to a room where you'll need to use the braziers to unlock the door.
  • 7 of 10: Go through the door and down the steps to start a conversation with some old robed guy.
  • 8 of 10: If you ask him what the artifact does, then say "yeah, get started," you'll be able to reallocate all of your talent points. After you do, you can use a portal to return to the sewer.
  • 9 of 10: Most other dialogue options will start a super-tough combat with the so-called "operator." He's a powerful mage, he'll periodically summon two souped-up gargoyles to attack you, and the Combat Acumen talent won't work on him or the gargoyles.
  • 10 of 10: If you can ever manage to win, you can loot the operator to get some good stuff, including his staff and some dragon scales. Also, a portal will open up that you can use to return to the sewers.
