How do I free Rafe, the Prisoner?
1 of 8: Rafe asks you to retrieve the Staff of Ash, which can remove the mark of death from his hand. The Staff is locked within a burning cage. You will need to explore most of the Rift before you can get to it. The necessary steps are listed below.
2 of 8: You will need the Sanctum Key and the Flamequencher Wand, both of which can be found in the Initiates' Chambers.
3 of 8: Head south from Rafe's cell, then cross the bridges until you come to a red-carpeted building with four rooms. These are the Initiates' Chambers.
4 of 8: The Sanctum Key and the Flamequencher Wand can be found in the northeastern and southeastern chambers, respectively.
5 of 8: Next, you will have to find a way to open the locked door near the Initiates' Baths. The Baths can be found by exiting the Initiates' Chambers and taking the steep path down the hillside to the west.
6 of 8: After bypassing the locked door, follow the ramp upwards to a set of two portals. Enter the northern portal. You will need the Sanctum key to unlock the door here.
7 of 8: After using the Sanctum Key, enter the door and take your first right. Follow the bridge downward to the burning cage.
