The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Hints

Where can I find a sword?

  • 1 of 13: A staple of Zelda games, finding your sword is usually the first real puzzle.
  • 2 of 13: Ask people around Mercay Island (or at least the part of it you can access) for help.
  • 3 of 13: Oshus seems pretty knowledgable -- head back to his house and ask him about a sword.
  • 4 of 13: If you have tried the path to the North, he will forbid you from going that way, and simply tell you to wait for the bridge to be repaired.
  • 5 of 13: We don't have that kind of time, old man!
  • 6 of 13: There is another cave just to the right of Oshus' house.
  • 7 of 13: If you head inside after being told to wait for the bridge to be repaired, Ciela will remark that she thinks Oshus hid a sword back here.
  • 8 of 13: However, there's a rather large stone slab blocking your path to the store area of the cave.
  • 9 of 13: We will need to pass it to find a sword.
  • 10 of 13: Once you've gotten the slab out of the way, head inside.
  • 11 of 13: Smash Oshus' pots if you like, since they're always good for a couple of rupees.
  • 12 of 13: Then, open the chest in the center of the room to obtain Oshus' Sword from inside.
  • 13 of 13: Incidentally, you can read the book to the right of the chest to learn the very basics of swordplay.
