The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Hints

Is there a way to speed up travel around the World Map?

  • 1 of 18: Yes, in fact there is, and if you played The Wind Waker, it's the same solution you used there.
  • 2 of 18: Have you noticed the golden frogs dotted around the seas of Phantom Hourglass?
  • 3 of 18: There is an item called a Cyclone Slate which can be used to note down the locations of these frogs.
  • 4 of 18: These locations can then be used as teleport points to speed up travel.
  • 5 of 18: The Cyclone Slate is received from Golden Chief Cylos, who can be found on an island in the Northern Sea.
  • 6 of 18: It's the uncharted island south of Bannen Island, to be precise.
  • 7 of 18: All you will find on this island are lots of the Boing-Oing statues that say things when you whack them.
  • 8 of 18: Most of these guys seem pretty quiet though, don't they?
  • 9 of 18: One of them however (just south of the center of the island) will give you a riddle.
  • 10 of 18: "It steers with rudder, then makes spray! And third, it paddles, then sees a way!"
  • 11 of 18: This gives you a clue as to the order in which you need to hit four of the other statues located around the island.
  • 12 of 18: Begin by marking the locations of all of the statues on your map.
  • 13 of 18: Notice anything, any patterns or shapes?
  • 14 of 18: The whole island is in the shape of a whale!
  • 15 of 18: So, hit the statues at his rudder, spray, fin, and eye!
  • 16 of 18: These are the statues at the far east, far north, far south, and far west of the island.
  • 17 of 18: Do these, and a cave mouth will open.
  • 18 of 18: Head inside and speak with Cylos, and he will give you the slate and explain how it works.
