Alone in the Dark 4: The New Nightmare Hints

How do I get out of the manor?

  • 1 of 13: I don't suppose it would help if I told you to use the front doors, would it?
  • 2 of 13: Well, you do need to go through those doors, but you also need to find the appropriate key.
  • 3 of 13: That will only happen after you've solved all of the other puzzles in the manor.
  • 4 of 13: Start by unlocking all four paintings on the second floor of the lobby.
  • 5 of 13: Something should happen once you've opened all of the paintings and gotten the items behind them.
  • 6 of 13: Mechanisms will appear below each portrait.
  • 7 of 13: You may have read something saying what to do with those mechanisms.
  • 8 of 13: So you need to figure out when each Morton was born and which Morton is pictured in each portrait.
  • 9 of 13: If you need the exact answer, read ahead for explicit answers.
  • 10 of 13: From left to right, enter 1852, 1874, 1899, and 1931.  (Looks like these portraits are all in chronological order.)
  • 11 of 13: When you enter those codes, the clock on the first floor will open to reveal an Ornate Bronze Key.
  • 12 of 13: Use that key to unlock the front door and go out.
  • 13 of 13: The unlabeled Small Bronze Key that was behind one of the paintings will unlock the gate just past the front door.
