Aura: Fate of the Ages Hints
How do I use the array of cylinders to solve the puzzle?
of 10: If you've been paying attention, you'll notice that the some of the cylinders on the array change position after each attempt to close the lids on the stands.
of 10: Some of the cylinders are simply gray (and can be turned), while others are colored (and are stationary).
of 10: If you take a close look at the three stands, you'll notice that each one has a colored edge around the base (the area where the single battery sits).
of 10: The three colored cylinders can each be paired up with one of the three stands, by matching the color of the stands with the color of the cylinders.
of 10: Each colored cylinder represents one of the battery stands in the following order: the top-left (yellow) cylinder represents the left stand, the middle (blue) cylinder represents the middle stand, and the lower-right (green) cylinder represents the right stand.
of 10: To explore the relationship between the cylinders and the stands, it is beneficial to study the current set of colored cylinders, making note of all three colored symbols.
of 10: Now, go back and try the battery stand control. Pull the lever to attempt to close the stands, and make note of how many times each of the stands rotates (you will probably only see the far left stand try to close, although if the first stand happens to be set correctly, then the second one may also attempt to close).
of 10: Can you link what happened at the battery stand to the symbols you saw on the colored cylinders? If you don't see the relationship right away, go through the procedure again.
of 10: The relationship between the colored cylinders and the battery stands is that the symbols on the colored cylinders tell you which stand will rotate how much -- the NEXT TIME you push the control button at the battery stand.
of 10: Once you know how many "quarter turns" each stand will make, you can go back to the stands and rotate them just enough so that their "next turn" (as displayed on the cylinder array) will cause all batteries to align, and the lid to close.
