Trench Five

  • 1 of 28: The summary says that barley seeds were found in this trench.
  • 2 of 28: Where might you get some barley around here?
  • 3 of 28: There are a couple of clues in the game as to what you need.
  • 4 of 28: One is on a website that you can visit. See the link below for info on how to get to an Internet-capable computer, but go to the "www.e-bidding.co.uk" site instead of the scientific term one.
  • 5 of 28: The other clue is inside the service station's office.
  • 6 of 28: Either click on the "Collectors Malt Whisky" entry on the website or the label on the empty bottle in the middle file cabinet drawer in the office to learn the answer.
  • 7 of 28: Barley is often made into whiskey (spelled "whisky" in this game), so you'll need an offering made from that for this trench's thirsty stone.
  • 8 of 28: Who around here might be in possession of some whisky?
  • 9 of 28: You can find out by reading the journal on the bed in motel room #2.
  • 10 of 28: The July 1st entry mentions Conrad Morse sipping away at his hip flask.
  • 11 of 28: He probably had whisky in it, so see if you can find out where it is now.
  • 12 of 28: The letter on the table to the right of the bed also mentions Morse drinking, and how he eventually lost his flask.
  • 13 of 28: He lost it while digging a new trench, so go check out the dig site.
  • 14 of 28: See the Archaeological Camp and Dig Site section if you need to know how to get past the sentry stone at Stone Row.
  • 15 of 28: Once you have access to the camp and dig site areas, look around for a flask.
  • 16 of 28: There isn't one visible anywhere, and Morse had no luck finding it, so it must have gotten accidentally buried during the digging.
  • 17 of 28: How might you find a metal flask that's been buried?
  • 18 of 28: You'll need a Metal Detector.
  • 19 of 28: Once you have one, turn it on and move around the hill's dig site.
  • 20 of 28: It's not there or in the altar stone area, so check out the camp area.
  • 21 of 28: Try that big dirt mound that's next to the hanging strainer frame near the tent.
  • 22 of 28: When you zoom in on the mound, you'll get a steady reading and a green light on the metal detector's gauge.
  • 23 of 28: You'll also get a Use Inventory Item cursor on the mound.
  • 24 of 28: So use an item to dig up the flask.
  • 25 of 28: You'll need the Trowel for that.
  • 26 of 28: Click on the trowel in inventory to reveal the flask, then click on it to bring it up.
  • 27 of 28: Click on the egg cups in inventory to pour some whisky into a cup, thereby forming the whisky offering.
  • 28 of 28: Click on it to take it after the weird "balance must be restored" vision.
